Crushthattest was created in 2007 by a group of graduates from the University of Texas. With some reflection on their educational experience, they realized a real need for supplements besides the (extremely overpriced) textbooks. Curious as to how the use of alternative materials could affect the performance of students, they tested various forms of study guides.
At first, the common view was that the use of flashcards would be limited to only those subjects with a high amount of memorization. They soon realized though, that if done the right way, students can gain a greater grasp on any subject by using flashcards. Indeed, the Socratic Method of asking questions of students where the answers aren’t necessarily already known makes a large impact.
Since its first success of creating flashcards primarily for tutoring purposes, Crushthattest has grown to cover college courses, AP exams, and CLEP exams. Soon, students in every possible course can reap the benefits of crushthattest; supplements are constantly being created for an increasing amount of courses.
